US Presidential Election 2024: US Presidential Election 2024: Senator Mark Kelly likely to replace Joe Biden, according to this poll

As the Democrats seek to replace Joe Biden on the ballot box, Vice-President Kamala Harris did appear to be among the front runners to replace him. The Democrats were upbeat about the success of Harris succeeding Biden by defeating Trump. Many of the Democrats had sought Biden’s replacement after the first US Presidential debate.

In news that may prove to be disappointing to the Democrats, Harris is not performing well in many of the national polls. Other potential replacements from the Democratic party are well ahead of Biden except Harris. This may indicate that the voters seek fresh faces to guide the US during challenging times.

Poll conducted:

Analytics company Blue Labs conducted the survey to find out the potential replacements to Biden. The survey was conducted from July 5-12 in seven states. 15,000 voters were assessed by the survey conducted. These voters belonged to the states of Nevada, Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia.

Those surveyed were assigned 11 options including Biden to choose as a presidential candidate. Kamala Harris was included but did not perform as well as compared to her other party members.

Results:

The draft results were published by Politico and the top four candidates among the Democrats to replace Biden are those who are presently holding key positions in the US Congress as well as in the states. The candidates who outperformed Biden by at least 5 points were: US Senator Mark Kelly from the state of Arizona, Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. On an average, Democratic party candidates with the exception of Harris were ahead of Biden by at least 3 percentage points.

Calls to replace Biden:

The survey has indicated that 3% of the voters in a competition between Trump and Biden switched to voting for a Democrat when the latter was replaced on the ballot box. These findings will play a crucial role ahead of the party’s virtual roll call and the national convention when Biden is expected to be replaced by another candidate.
