Access Through the Arts Panels: Just Around the Bend


Join our international guest artists and local community leaders for three exciting panels that discuss the festival’s themes from the perspective of literature, local traditions and history, and social change. The Access Through the Arts panels are a meeting place between our guest artists, local leaders, and you, the audience.

Sunday 8 September

Objects and Memory

1 p.m. PDT (San Francisco, UTC -7) / 3 p.m. CDT (Chicago, UTC -5) / 4 p.m. EDT (New York, UTC -4)

How do we retain personal and cultural memory in relation to a technologically developing society? This panel will feature festival guest artists Xavier Bobés and Alice Gottschalk, and local artist, educator and activist, Vera Longtoe Sheehan, to discuss the relationship between art, memory and history.

Saturday 14 September

Rocks, Trees, and Water

9:30 a.m. PDT (San Francisco, UTC -7) / 11:30 a.m. CDT (Chicago, UTC -5) / 12:30 p.m. EDT (New York, UTC -4)

How do humans relate with the history contained within the natural world? This panel will pair festival guest companies Puzzle Theater and Alex and Olmsted with a representative from Brattleboro’s Confluence Project about the stories of our waterways to discuss our relationship with, responsibility to, and curiosity for the natural world.

Illuminating Converging Pathways

9:30 a.m. PDT (San Francisco, UTC -7) / 11:30 a.m. CDT (Chicago, UTC -5) / 12:30 p.m. EDT (New York, UTC -4)

Addressing the relationship between arts and community engagement. This panel will engage local filmmaker Willow O’Feral with the creators of Sandglass’ Feral and festival guest artist Deborah Hunt to offer thoughts about what may be just around the bend in arts and cultural work.
