Update: This story has been updated following the official release of Lady Gaga and Doechii’s “Runway.”
Last year, it was reported that Lady Gaga will make a cameo in The Devil Wears Prada 2, the long-anticipated sequel to the 2006 film starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. As it turns out, that wasn’t her sole contribution to the movie. A trailer last week featured an original song by Gaga and Doechii titled “Runway,” which is also the name of the fictional fashion magazine run by Streep’s Miranda Priestly. On April 9, the duo released the song in full—check that out, as well as the trailer, below.
Several of Doechii’s bars on “Runway” make it into the trailer, including “Serve a little sass with a little side of ass” and “Do a little twirl, let ’em know that I’m that girl.” Lady Gaga sings the house pop track’s hook, which goes “You were born for the runway.” The full song opens with an apt bit of dialogue from the 1996 movie The Nutty Professor, where Eddie Murphy’s Sherman Klump says: “No matter what, no matter what…you’ve got to strut.”
The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters on May 1. Lady Gaga and Doechii both went home winners at the 2026 Grammys; Best Pop Vocal Album went to Gaga’s Mayhem, and Doechii nabbed Best Music Video for her single “Anxiety.” Lady Gaga’s last big-screen role was in the musical Joker: Folie à Deux, for which she also recorded the companion album Harlequin.
