Fairview Township, PA mansion offers lakefront view and luxury
The word “mansion” doesn’t have an accompanying photo in Webster’s Dictionary. But if it did, a photo of the French Country-style manor in Fairview Township might suffice.
The stunning home, located at 7000 Pinegate Road, and which is on sale for $1,450,000, is the stuff of dreams: a 10-acre property with 23 rooms, 7.5 baths, seven bedrooms, three kitchens, a nine-car garage and a waterfront view of Lake Erie.
If that wasn’t enough, there’s also an indoor pool.

“The house has been drawing a lot of attention,” said Kathe Rafferty with Howard Hanna Real Estate Services. She said potential buyers from as far as Washington, D.C., have expressed interest in the spacious, 9,600-square-foot home.
“It’s huge and the land is beautiful. It’s well-manicured. It’s well-protected. And it’s in Fairview. What more can you want?” she said.

Built in 1984, the home was the vision of Dr. Subramanyam Segu, an Erie ophthalmologist and also the current owner.
Segu told the Erie Times-News the property originally included just a summer cottage of roughly 1,500 square feet. When he saw some of the other homes in the area, he felt compelled to upgrade his humble abode. And what resulted was a brand new luxury home, of which the three-bedroom summer cottage became his guest house.

A grand staircase and two-story foyer greet visitors upon entering the main entrance of the home. A formal living room and dining room with polished marble tile are to the left and right of the staircase, while behind it sits a lavish great room with mahogany floor, walls and ceiling, and a black marble fireplace.

“Everything is oversized. Let’s put it that way,” Rafferty said with approval. “You don’t see homes like this anymore.”
The home also includes a large main kitchen, a remodeled walkout basement and a game room.
Segu’s favorite part of the home: the serenity. Not only does it sit in the middle of 10 acres, but the home has a gated entrance, a lengthy driveway and 500 feet of frontage space.
“It is so calm and quiet — there’s nobody to bother you,” he said. “That’s why I liked it. It is so peaceful.”

Rafferty called the home a “multi-purpose house,” and said it would be great for a large or even multiple families.
She acknowledged some remodeling needs to be done given its age. But she added the new owner will benefit from the Clean and Green Act — a state law formally called the Pennsylvania Farmland and Forest Land Assessment Act — which provides tax relief to property owners with 10 acres or more of land, as long as they agree not to convert their land to housing developments or other types of non-agricultural, commercial businesses.
“It saves about $9,000 in taxes,” Rafferty said.

Annual property taxes on the home in 2021 were $33,450, according to Zillow.com.
